Dr. Ravi Vinayak has 30+ years of experience in the Life Sciences and Diagnostics industry in technology transactions, business development, licensing, strategic planning, and global sales.
Ravi started his industry career as an Associate Scientist rising to the rank of Senior Business Development executive at Applied Biosystems (now Thermo Fisher) during a career spanning 16 years. In this role at Applied Biosystems, Ravi led, managed, and directed activities relating to new technology transactions. In addition, he nurtured relationships with major alliances including University Tech Transfer offices, start-ups, and academic institutions worldwide. Ravi led interdisciplinary team efforts in conducting business analysis identifying clear and compelling cases for licensing, partnering, or acquisition of new technologies. Ravi was also the Chief Business Officer at Ahram Biosystems where he set up sales, distribution, marketing, and business development activities for their portable PCR device. Ravi also managed Qiagen’s Point of Care OEM business (in immunodiagnostics and molecular diagnostics) for North America and Asia. Ravi spent five years with Vector Laboratories and Maravai LifeSciences where he served as GM, Global Channel Distribution. During his time at Maravai, Ravi set up and managed over 100 channel partners across the globe for several Maravai companies. Prior to that he was VP of Business development and International Sales at Biomed Diagnostics, a DCN Diagnostics company where he set up all international sales and business development efforts.
Most recently, Ravi was Vice President of Global Channel Sales at S2 Genomics which is developing automated solutions in the field of Single Cell Biology. Currently as Managing Director of New Trail Consulting, Ravi serves a few US based Biotech, Diagnostics and Life Science companies that are interested in generating new revenues from global markets.
He has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of Alberta, Canada and did his post-doctoral work at Caltech. Ravi has published over 40 papers in peer reviewed journals, obtained several patents and contributed to several book chapters relating to Nucleic Acids Chemistries and technologies.
